Nansemond River Needs You!

God has a place of service for you at Nansemond River. It is our desire that “every member be a minister.”   Below you will find opportunities for service. For further questions, please contact the office at 757-484-3423. We would love to hear from you and help you get connected.

Ministry Opportunities

Children's Ministry – If you are interested in working with children grades 1-6 during Sunday classes or Wednesday nights, please contact Jeff Walton through the church office.

Children's Ministry Substitute Teachers – The children's ministry is looking for substitute teachers who would be willing to “be on call.” The volunteer would be available to fill in during a given week due to an absent teacher or specific need arising. Please contact Jeff Walton through the church office.

Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) - In September we started a Good News Bible Club for children after school at a local elementary school.  For more information on getting involved, please contact the church office.  For more detailed information on CEF, go to www.cefonline.com 

MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) – The purpose of MOPS is to nurture all Mothers of Preschoolers by meeting their distinct needs to the glory of Jesus Christ. MOPS provides a Christ centered, caring ministry for expectant mothers through mothers of kindergartners. This promotes the development of friendships, creativity, and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The MOPS website is www.mops.org . Greeters – The Greeter ministry is vital in welcoming people each week and assisting them into the life of Nansemond River. If you enjoy creating an atmosphere of love, fellowship, and excitement as people enter our facilities, we need you. Greeters can serve on Sunday mornings at 8:15, 9:15 or 10:45 a.m. Please stop by the Welcome Center for more details.

Sports and Recreation – We need people interested in developing, planning, and leading a variety of sports outreach programs. Contact the office of Sports and Recreation.

Student Ministry – Special event leaders, small group leaders, and ministry coordinators are a must! The student ministry is seeking assistance in each of these areas. If you are interested in helping with a special event, hosting a small group for students, or coordinating a ministry, please contact Gary Vaughan at 757-484-3423.

Small Group Bible Study – Host a small group Bible study in your home or other location. Contact Tommy Larson through the church office for more information.

Foot Ministry - The Foot ministry meets the second Saturday of each month from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. This ministry is for the elderly and those unable to groom and clip their own toenails. For more information or to volunteer for this ministry, please contact the church office.

Music Ministry – Music is an integral part of the worship and celebration experienced in our services weekly at Nansemond River. It is our desire to worship in spirit and truth as we seek to connect people to Jesus Christ.

Media – Use technology in the form of sound, video, lighting, and graphics to enhance the message of Jesus Christ. Contact the church office for more information.

Women's Ministry – Challenge, inspire, and encourage women to be all that God created them to be. Opportunities are available through Bible studies, special event nights, and prayer. Contact the church office for further information.

Men's Ministry - The Men's Ministry seeks to minister to men of all ages and to help men grow spiritually.

Missions – Participate in reaching our local, national, and international communities through specific projects and trips. Contact the Global Missions office for ongoing mission trips and opportunities.

Parking – Welcome people to Nansemond River, guide them to a parking spot, and assist with any needs they may have as they enter our facilities. Contact the Greeters center for more information.

Ushers – Welcome and guide our members and guests as they enter the Worship Center. Contact Harry Morgan or the church office for more information.
