Faith Does: A Study of James

Sermon Series: Sundays at 9:30 a.m.

Is it the same to believe in God and to have faith in God? The Bible says that "without faith it is impossible to please God."  Does just believing please Him?

We are living in a world where many people profess a belief in Christ but few demonstrate a vital relationship with Him. They talk about God, but they don't live for Him. In fact, God does not appear to have any real influence in their lives! Is that true Christianity?  In his letter to the church, James said, "NO!" Instead, he cautions professed believers to "Be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves."  It is a fatal mistake to ground one's eternal destiny upon a belief that does not impact everyday living.

What James wrote 2000 years ago is just as applicable today. In this series, we will examine his letter with the specific goal applying it to our lives in the twenty-first century. As we do, we will find that God still has high expectations for those who claim to be related to Him.
