Not Politically Correct?
Well, it has been over three weeks since I have made a blog installment. Both time and attention have been the culprits that have kept me away, but after a week of R&R, I am back and want to post something for your consideration.
The tragic events at Va. Tech have reminded me again of the sad situation that our nation is presently facing. Dare we call it a “moral decline?” That, of course, is not politically correct. Two weeks ago, I had many opportunities to address the media, but they did not want to hear and certainly were not willing to print my moral decline observations. For many, it is just a matter of taking away the guns, and then everything will be alright. But, in a culture where Truth is relative, “bad” will always rise to the top. Bad people do bad things, and those who want to hurt the innocent will find ways to do it. The answer to this nation’s problems is not to be found in muzzling the NRA but in taking the muzzle off the Truth that sets men free and transforms sinners into new creations in Christ Jesus.
O, I know that’s not politically correct either. Shall I be so narrow-minded as to infer that Christ is the only way? No, I will not “infer” it… I will declare it! We are living in a decaying universe or so the second law of thermodynamics states. Things are not getting better, they are getting worse. Our culture is glorifying the very things that are destroying us. We are in a downward spiral, and sooner or later, we will hit bottom!
There is only one hope, the “living hope.” If ever we needed to go into the highways and the byways and share the good news of eternal life, it is now. Paul warned the people of his day, “…it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed.” (Romans 13:11) Time is running out, and we have something to live for! Not politically correct? Who cares! It’s the truth, and we dare not ignore it.
Let the redeemed of the Lord say so!
