The Water Is Heating Up!

Have we become the frog in the kettle? It was Vance Havner who said, “Most people are so sub-normal that if they ever became normal, people would think they were abnormal!” Like the cold blooded frog that swims idly in the pot while the water heats up and begins to boil, has the American church become so cold-hearted that it is now sitting idly in the pews while the opportunities for evangelism and ministry that have been enjoyed for the past two-and-a-quarter centuries are subtly being taken away.

We have already seen that some legislators want to pass a hate crimes bill that could well result in some subjects being labeled taboo. To take a biblical stand on homosexuality, for example, might be labeled “hatred,” with a resulting fine if not imprisonment. Now I hear that some are attempting to remove conservative radio programs because they are not balanced by an equal number of liberal programs; this in spite of the fact that liberal “talk show” programming can’t seem to make it financially!

I heard one person say that it was not fair for people to be told “conservative bias” without a balanced liberal opinion. Are the American people not able to choose what they will listen to and what they will believe? Besides, it seems that liberals have long been content to have the mainstream media presenting a liberal bias!

We have sat in the kettle while humanistic liberals have robbed America of its moral and spiritual convictions, and now we may be seeing our 1st amendment rights being taken away! Where will all this end? It will end when the water begins to boil and the frog is dead! If the majority do not speak up, they will soon find themselves in the minority, with no hope of turning things around.

In the past, it was concerned, conservative, proactive church folks who took a stand for America as it was intended to be. Without our voice, there may be no voice. The water is heating up and our day of opportunity is passing. We are about to celebrate our nations 221st birthday. Believers, we better stand up before somebody blows out the candles!

"One of our great allies at present is the Church itself. Do not mis-understand me. I do not mean the Church as we see her spread out through time and space and rooted in eternity, terrible as an army with banners. That, I confess, is a spectacle which makes our boldest tempters uneasy. But fortunately it is quite invisible to these humans."

Matthew 5:14 (you know it, say it along with me), You are the light of the world...

It strikes me that the places where you can truly experience the radiance of light are in the darkest places...

We've got to get out from under our bowls and let this light, that has bestowed upon us at our own request, shine and Glorify God...I think the radiance that we will experience will suprise us!

If it does become a "hate crime" to expound the biblical truth about homosexuality, I wonder how many of the nation's professed Christians would confess that biblical truth despite the consequences and how many would betray their false faiths by keeping silent on the subject?

Believers should relish the opportunity to suffer for Christ in this way!!
