On The Beach
I love to study. Give me a Bible passage, an afternoon to research and meditate on it and I’m in hog heaven! And, by God’s grace and calling, for the past quarter of a century, He has allowed me to do that vocationally and then teach others. I love it!
Recently, however, I experienced something that called me back to basics. It was simple, uncomplicated, and refreshing. My wife and I had gone to Hawaii for our fortieth wedding anniversary, and we arrived at a cottage where we were to spend a few nights on the island of Kauai. Now, if you are not familiar with Kauai, it is very beautiful, natural place where film producers like to go and shoot their movies. Jurassic Park, King Kong, South Pacific, and Blue Hawaii are just a few. It is a wonderful, unspoiled place. The cottage was located at the Southwest corner of the island on a secluded beach at the Barking Sands Missile Base.
We arrived at the base, checked in and then did some sightseeing. By the time we returned to the cottage, it was dark. No, it wasn’t just dark, it was pitch dark. The moon was not yet up, and outside, you couldn’t see your hand in front of your face. But, stretched out over us was the most beautiful site. The light from the stars was unhindered, and the Milky Way looked like a giant cloud stretching across the heavens. It literally took our breath away.
After we unpacked, I took a towel, stretched it out on the sand and just lay there staring into the marvelous creation of my God. No, I didn’t “worship the creation,” but I sure did see the fingerprints of the One Who made it.
Most people who read this have, at one time or another had a similar experience. What did you learn? Yes, there is no substitute for being faithful to read and study God’s word. We see what He has done, what He expects, what He promises. But, you know what? There are times when we just need to be reminded of Who He is and Who He is to us. That night, I was reminded, and it was a moving experience.
We have an awesome God, and He never does anything in a small way. If you don't believe it, just go out one clear, starry night, and look up!

Is it possible to accept that HE made it in less than 6 (24 hour) literal days?
